Employee Appreciation Week

It's Employee Appreciation Week at work. This was also the week I wanted to stop eating crap, but since the week mostly involves "rewarding" the employees with a lot of crap (bagels, etc.), I feel it would be rude of me if I did not partake. I'll be good about it, though. Anyway, on Monday everyone got a single long-stemmed rose with nowhere to put it unless someone already had a vase. So I cut off a good chunk of the stem and placed it in a styrofoam cup, as you can see here. I took a picture of it today because this is the prettiest it's going to be.

Break

My office switched locations recently. I'm now in this place surrounded by other buildings that appear to be...uh...vacant. So I've decided that on break I will hang out in this abandoned area, whether it's to go for a walk or just sit on one of the benches over here. There's something about this tree that made me want to take a picture of it, but I have no idea what that something is.

Poppies

Golden poppies often grow by the train tracks here. The unusual thing is that I've never seen ones like these, all yellow at the edges. I don't know if that means they're young or they're different or what...they're pretty, though.

Gardens rock.

The rose garden at Central Park in San Mateo is in bloom! I realize this picture isn't of roses, but...still. Another lady was there taking pictures, and she asked me if I could take a picture of her in front of the wisteria, so I did. She then pointed out the blue girl roses to me and told me they smelled the best. And you know what? They do. She also got bonus points for calling me "miss". I normally get "ma'am", so that was pretty cool. Um, anyway, enjoy the picture!

Sakura? (part 2)

Regarding that other picture I took...I now doubt that those were cherry blossoms, because I'm thinking these might be. This is supposed to be the time of year for them; late February was a bit early. At any rate, it is blatantly obvious that I do NOT know my blossoms.

Sakura?

Yesterday I walked through the park while on my lunch hour. It's so beautiful over there, even during this time of year. (Then again, I find beauty in pretty much everything, so I guess coming from me it's not saying much.) I took this picture in front of the tea garden. The sad thing is, while I named the picture "sakura", I'm not entirely sure if those are cherry blossoms.

5:00

This is what I stare at when the working day is over...or rather, when the working day is supposed to be over. I sit out here for about ten minutes and zone out, then I go back in to either do more work or go on the internet for a while, depending. I still have dialup at home. I know, pathetic.
