Another Painting

This is my first oil painting. I painted it in 1995 at a rec class. From what I remember, we had to take something and either try to copy it outright or just use it for inspiration. This is loosely based on a watercolor that I saw in a magazine.

Scarlet Letter of a different sort

Last night I was channel-surfing and I watched the silent version of "The Scarlet Letter" for a couple of minutes. It somehow inspired me to create this rough sketch...which is as far as most of my drawings get these days. I'm not quite sure how to draw the bonnet. Bleh.

Three questions:

1. What do you think that thing in the middle is?
2. What do you think the person who gave this to me thought it was? (I don't know the answer to this question, by the way.)
3. Which of those two colors of yarn goes better with it?

New Purse

I only seem to buy purses (costing more than, say, $25) when I get a gift card for Macy's or Nordstrom or something like that from my work...I get one from them every year. I like looking at the more expensive purses--the fish and coral Coach designs were cute--but I'd never buy them. I'm just not a high-end label girl. Anyway, this is my latest purchase. The style is called "Fairfax Shopper" and it's by Fossil. I adore it. I ended up paying around $10 after using the gift card. Yay!

Office Flair

I am a crazy person with a crazy desk full of flair. I was bored yesterday and it was slightly after hours, so I decided to take pictures of the stuff on my desk. The monkey is a white elephant. (I know, shocker.) He doesn't have an official name, though he's been called many things. Raj and Spank immediately come to mind. And as some of you can probably tell, yes, I was at the Sharks' home opener.

Um, let's see...there's a duck, some normal office supplies, a high school picture of one of my friends, some national flags, and Eve, the sensitivity consultant. Go here for more information. The calendar you can kind of see in this picture is the 2006 Cubes Calendar, which came with my order. It's quite amusing.

The elephant came from Target when they had their "Global Bazaar". R2-D2 makes noise, which is fun. (Not at random, though. That would not be good for the workplace.) The lightsaber is a Disneyland souvenir, the perfume was a Christmas present from my sister, and I have a few different masks that I rotate. Oh, and between the perfume and the mask is Hanae. Touch her and face my wrath. :P

Images of Christmas, Part III

My uncle and his family bought a new treetopper for 2005. They call it the "Vegas Angel" for obvious reasons.

Images of Christmas, Part II

Every year, my grandmother buys this type of cake and has "Happy Birthday Jesus" written on it. We also sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. This picture serves as proof that I'm not making this up.

Images of Christmas, Part I

The star lantern represents the Star of Bethlehem and is an essential Christmas decoration in the Philippines. This lantern was one of many displayed at St. Augustine in South San Francisco, a parish with a high Filipino contingent. There was probably something wrong with my taking a picture inside a church. Well...at least I didn't take the picture during Mass. That really would have been wrong.

The initial post.

Hi everyone. Last month I got a new cell phone due to switching carriers. It's lovely and, of course, it has a camera on it. I decided to create a mobile blog because it would give me something different to do, plus I might have fun with it. This first picture is of a painting I made back in '95; it's based on a picture I took at the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco. I use it as my default wallpaper.
